CLOSE to 10,000 jobs will be on offer in `The Hindu Opportunities job fair', which will be held on Saturday and Sunday in the city.
The organisers expect around 40,000 visitors to the fair to be held at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex.
Apart from attending spot tests/interviews by the employers, the visitors -final year graduate/PG students, fresh graduates/PGs and professionals with up to five years' experience - would have the opportunity to listen to experts on a host of issues concerning their career such as how to handle interviews, how to prepare the resume etc.
Employability has become a crucial issue to be addressed as experience has shown that though the candidates may have necessary skill and subject knowledge, they lose out during the selection process because of poor communication skills during interviews, inability to articulate their views properly during group discussions etc. Even drafting of resume should be done with utmost care and many job aspirants do not seek expert advice on such issues.
In an effort to help the job seekers present themselves effectively to potential employers, the organisers have arranged for seminars during 4 p.m.-7 p.m. on both days at the venue at which experts would speak on how to write resume, handle interviews and take part in group discussions
The seminars would be held simultaneously in two different halls and would be repeated on the second day also. Each session would last for about 90 minutes. Only limited seats would be available and first-come first-served principle would be followed.
