IIT Alumnus award for Lord Bhattacharya

Prof Lord Kumar Bhattacharya has been given the Distinguished Alumnus Award by the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, at its Golden Jubilee convocation on Saturday. Mr Arjun Malhotra, Life Fellow of the IIT, presented the award to Lord Bhattacharya.

Lord Bhattacharya is an advisor to many companies, governments and organisations around the world and has worked extensively and published in the field of manufacturing, says the citation given to him on the occasion. Describing him as a distinguished academic and innovator, the citation said Lord Bhattacharya was appointed as UK's first Professor in Manufacturing in 1980 when he became founder and the Director of the Warwick Manufacturing Group at the University of Warwick.
