Events Youth urged to lead the way Our Bureau
Bangalore , Feb. 26 YOUNG leaders from various fields felt that the only way leaders can succeed is by having courage to make the right decisions and get the right people for the right job. Speaking at a session on `Leadership: Taking Charge,' at the CII Young Indians Summit here, Col. Lalit Rai, a Vir Chakra recipient and a frontline soldier during the Kargil war, believed that leaders need to expose themselves to the dangers of the job. "Otherwise, I'm not worth the leader I'm supposed to be." He emphasised the need to have a sense of humour during stressful times. Mr Piruz Khambatta, Chairman and Managing Director, Rasna India, asked young Indians to follow a three-pronged approach to make them leaders in their own right: "Never give up the power of an idea, you can succeed in India better than anywhere else in the world and try to be an entrepreneur." According to Ms Sangita Singh, Vice-President, Strategic Marketing, Wipro Technologies, it's passion holds the entire team through tough times. "Live and breathe dreams and execute those dreams," she told young Indians. Film personality Rahul Bose felt that leadership is all about respect. "People will respect the leader if he respects himself and what he stands for." He advised all leaders to go through a ruthless introspection exercise so that it will help them make better leaders.
