Indian entities bag 9 PATA awards

THE Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has announced its `PATA Gold Awards' for 2005. Individuals and organisations from India, including the Department of Tourism, Government of India, and Kerala Tourism, have won nine awards including a `Grand Award', says a PATA press release.
The Department of Tourism, Government of India, has won the `PATA Grand Award for Heritage'. The award is for the department's `Ajanta-Ellora conservation and tourism development project', the release says. The other `Grand Award', for marketing, goes to the Singapore-based Banyan Tree Holdings.
Kerala Tourism has won a Gold Award for its e-newsletter, and has also secured an `honourable mention' in the heritage and culture category for its `A day with the masters' cultural tour initiative. `A day with the masters' is a specially designed, experiential tour of Kerala Kalamandalam the State's premier training centre for the performing arts.
The Department of Tourism, Government of India, has won a second award for its `Incredible Taj' print media advertisement, says the press release. Indian Airlines has won the award in the domestic air carrier category, while Thomas Cook India has won the award in the tour operator category. ITC Hotels has won the award in the corporate environmental category and SITA India in the consumer travel brochure category. Ms Kamal Gill has won an award in the industry business article - consumer publications category.
