Strategy Pune residents gear up to welcome Innova Our Bureau
Pune , March 2 Yet to hit the Indian roads, Toyota Innova, the new seven-seater vehicle, has already registered 5,000 bookings in the Western region alone. Of this, Pune accounts for close to 250 bookings. Toyota's aims to ply 45,000 Innova on Indian roads by December-end.Disclosing the figures, Mr D.S. Kulkarni, Chairman and Managing Director of the DSK Group, the Toyota dealers in the city, said about 60 per cent of the bookings have come in for the top-end model of the diesel version of the vehicle. However, the petrol version is likely to topple this figure, due to its better maintenance, he said. He said the DSK Group is targeting sales of 1,000 Innova for the current calendar year. Innova, the multipurpose vehicle, which gives the riders the comfort and luxury of sedan, is being simultaneously launched across the globe and India. The price tag for the petrol version (ex-showroom Pune) ranges between Rs 6.75 lakh and Rs 9.35 lakh while the diesel version ranges between Rs 7.35 lakh and Rs 9.95 lakh. Commenting on how his group is gearing up to take on this vehicle, Mr Kulkarni said new service centres and workshop across Maharashtra would be set up during the year. Currently, there was one service centre in Pune, which would be ramped up to three, with one in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area and the other in Hadapsar. The other locations where service centres would be set up include Baramati, Lonavala, Akluj, Sangamner, Kopergaon, and Phaltan. As of now, the DSK group has its presence in Pune, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ahmednagar and Solapur. Asked about Prado, he said DSK has already sold four vehicles, three in Pune and one in Kolhapur and would selling four more in Pune this month. The target for this vehicle is, however, only 12 for the current year, he added.
