Bull run continues in rubber market

SPOT rubber prices witnessed another bull run on Thursday. Covering groups and purchase agents continued to corner the meagre arrivals while export enquiries also enlightened the market mood.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 improved to Rs 54 at Kottayam and Kochi, from Rs 53.50 and Rs 53.25 a kg, respectively on Wednesday.

The NMCE rubber futures stayed in tune with the physical market mirroring the overseas sentiments. The March contract was traded at Rs 54 (53.81); April contract Rs 56.90 (56.90); May contract Rs 59 (58.95); and June at Rs 60 (59.97) per kg for RSS 4.

At Bangkok, RSS 3 closed better at Rs 56.94 against Rs 56.83 a kg. The April futures for RSS 3 improved to 137 yen from 135.6 yen at TOCOM.

The spot rubber prices per kg are as follows: RSS 4: 54 (53.50); RSS 5: 53 (52.50); ungraded: 52 (51.50); ISNR 20: 53.25 (52.75); and latex 60%: 39.50 (39.50).
