Cell-phone companies have imposed strict rules for new mobile connections from March 1 to avoid misuse of the service. The customer has to submit personal identity proof, address proof and photograph in addition to filling up a detailed form. The connection activation time for postpaid customers is five days and prepaid 48 hours. Companies hope to compensate for the anticipated loss of customers by adopting aggressive marketing techniques. According to a survey in last November, there are about 18.5 lakh cell-phone connections in Kerala.
