Dunlop files plea to withdraw funds

Our Legal Correspondent

Kolkata , March 3

DUNLOP India Ltd on Wednesday filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court, seeking withdrawal of Rs 10.75 crore deposited with the court towards sales proceeds of its Calcutta property.

Dunlop, in its petition, stated that out of the sales proceeds, the company wanted to pay off the past back wages of the employees, provident fund dues and Employees' State Insurance dues.

The Dunlop Employees Union opposed the petition on the ground that the management had decided to pay only 10 per cent of the back wages. After hearing the matter, Mr Justice S. K. Gupta directed the parties to file affidavits and fixed the matter for hearing after two weeks.
