Bangalore , March 4

WIPRO Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Ltd, announced the opening of its new office in Munich on Friday.

The office will be staffed by local consultants and will expand into a local language delivery and development centre, said a company press release.

The Munich office becomes Wipro's third major centre to be located in Germany, after Kiel and Düsseldorf, and marks the next phase of the company's plans for investment in expanding its German infrastructure, the company said.

Europe represents 30 per cent of Wipro's global IT services revenues and is growing more than 50 per cent year-on-year, with Germany being one of the top potential growth markets.

Some of Wipro's key customers in Europe are Aviva, Prudential, Thames Water, Skandia, Loyalty Gate, Exel and TUI.

Apart from Germany, Wipro has development centres in the US, the UK, Finland, Sweden, Japan and China, with additional centres planned in Eastern Europe and the Philippines.

"The opening of the Munich centre reflects the strategic importance of the German market in Wipro's European growth strategy and reiterates our commitment to the European market," said Mr P.R. Chandrasekar, Chief Executive - European Operations, Wipro Technologies.

"The centre will complement Wipro's services by addressing issues which need local presence."
