IN a bid to ensure the availability of adequate hotel rooms in metro cities and tourist sites, all the States have agreed to work together towards streamlining their land policy through re-zoning and redefining land.

This emerged at the conclusion of the two-day conference of the State Tourism Ministers. Briefing newspersons, the Minister for Tourism, Ms Renuka Choudhury, said that all the States were committed to ensuring "a single window" clearance for tourism projects.

"We are optimistic that all the States will conclude something on this issue in time for the next meeting," the Minister said.

The next meeting is scheduled to be held in Andhra Pradesh in about six months.

Besides, all the States agreed to strive towards development of world-class infrastructure at tourism sites including urban infrastructure and ensuring better connectivity to major tourist destinations.
