Hyderabad , March 6

RARITAN Computer Inc, a supplier of IT infrastructure management solutions for server farms and remote offices, is bullish on the growing market for data centres in India.

It plans to expand with a new facility that could support its 32 centres across the world. With 200 plus customers in India, the company is mining the booming data centre market.

The Vice-President and Global Marketing Head for Raritan Computer, Mr Vsevolod (Sev) Onyshkevych, told Business Line that the global market for data centres, particularly in India and China, is growing rapidly, which calls for the `virtualisation' of electronic management of software and hardware.

With Raritan solutions, medium and large sized enterprises are able to manage data centres across multiple locations from one centre as if they are virtually at one place.

"Raritan Computer recently entered India and currently hosts sales and marketing offices and sources some development work. We are in the process of establishing a tech support centre for global operations," he explained.

"Verticals such as IT, BPO, banking and financial services, telecom and the Government hold great promise for growth as they get on to the electronic world. Major technology companies and financial services players are Raritan clients and our products control and manage millions of servers at more than 50,000 data centres, computer test labs and other sites around the world. From the small business to the enterprise, Raritan's remote connectivity products help improve operational productivity," he said.

"Not only has management complexity increased, but the cost of system downtime has gone up as companies depend more on their IT equipment to run businesses. Airlines lose tens of thousands of dollars in new reservation revenue every minute when their reservation systems are down. Companies that host Internet auctions lose millions of dollars every day when transactions cannot occur due to a failed server farm or network," he said.

Headquartered in New Jersey, the US, Raritan manufactures products in company-owned facilities in the US and Taiwan.

Remote management products help integrate distributed centres and enable IT staff using a Web browser to securely manage all the equipment across branches as if they are physically present.
