New Delhi , March 6 DELHI'S denizens have rated the rationalisation in income-tax rates and the increase in tax-free income as the single most liked feature of the Budget 2005-06. Not surprisingly, the most disliked proposal was the tax on withdrawal of more than Rs 10,000 on a single day, according to a survey carried out in the Capital by Shyam Vyas MARC, an independent market research firm. Some 60 per cent of the people of the Capital included in the survey said that they were only "somewhat aware" of the Budget proposals. Despite the rationalisation of the income-tax slabs getting the top draw, 44 per cent of Delhiites stated that their tax liabilities remained the same after the budget, while 24 per cent said that it increased their tax burden. In terms of being a `people-friendly Budget', 28 per cent believed it was so, 56 per cent were uncertain, while 16 per cent found it anti-people. On the issue of the middle class benefiting from the Budget, 32 per cent believed that the Budget had not been hard on the middle class, 44 per cent were uncertain of its impact, while 16 per cent thought it was harsh.
