New Delhi , March 7

THE Italy-based illycaffe S.p.A. has launched the third edition of its India Coffee Quality Prize for Espresso, entries for which close on March 20. The award goes to growers of quality Arabica plantation `A' coffee beans, it said in a statement here.

The award is modelled on the decade-and-a-half old Brazilian Quality Award and through it, Indian producers of quality Arabica join the elite ranks of suppliers of coffee beans to illycaffe for processing and marketing under its own brand name. The award will be $10,000 to the winner.

Illycaffe claims to be the largest single importer of Arabica from India, accounting for four per cent of the country's exports of Arabica.
