Our Bureau

New Delhi , March 7

TO help women achieve their professional goals and break the glass ceiling, a corporate network of women employees in the public and private sector will be launched on Tuesday on the occasion of International Women's Day.

The network will have chapters in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. It will address issues relating to the professional, personal and work environment of women in the corporate sector.

Besides "empowering women to reach their full potential," the network will also help members establish contacts with professionals from various business backgrounds, who can thereon become their mentors, friends and offer professional support.

The Working Women's Forum for Building Partnerships — WWF 4BP — will function on membership basis and conduct workshops and seminars besides offering consulting services. An e-mail contact programme is also on the cards.

The forum was launched by the Mumbai-based Continuing Education and Training Centre. The centre has been working in the area of human development and training since 1985 and is closely associated with the HR departments of many companies.

It specialises in design and development of customised training modules. It conducts training programmes for companies such as MTNL, Aditya Birla group, Maharashtra State Electricity Board, Hindustan Lever Ltd, Glaxo Smithline, BPCL, HPCL, PepsiCo and Bharti Cellular Ltd.

WWF 4BP will launch its network in Mumbai with a workshop on Tuesday. The keynote speaker is Ms Hedy M. Ratner from the US. She is the Founder and Co-President of Women's Business Development Center, which provides counselling, training and financial, certification and procurement aid for women entrepreneurs.
