THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Department of Education has launched an audio-conferencing facility to monitor the conduct of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations that get under way in the State from Wednesday.
It is for the first time that the possibilities of information technology have been put to use to coordinate the conduct of an examination, according to Mr E.T. Mohammed Basheer, Minister for Education. The Minister presided over the inaugural function held at the Banquet Hall of the Legislature here.
The audio-conferencing facility will enable the Minister as well as senior officials of the Department of Education to be in constant touch with the Deputy Directors in all the 14 districts and keep a tab on the manner in which examinations are held.
The project has been implemented by the IT@school division of the Department of Education, piggybacking on a system developed by the Electronic wing of the Public Works Department.
