A raw deal

This is with reference to the editorial "Failed harvest (Business Line March 4). Once again the budget has given a raw deal to the agricultural sector and the farmers. It was full of lofty promises and allocations but low on how to make these work for the farmers.

This year also the Finance Minister will have to keep his fingers crossed for a good monsoon. He can at least take steps to reduce dependence of agriculture on the monsoon by pursuing scientific methods.
