SAINT Joseph's University, US, has launched a Masters Programme in Health and Hospital Administration in association with Kovai Medical Centre Research and Educational Trust, a Coimbatore-based organisation focussed on education, training and research.
The course would train students to become qualified managers and administrators in health and hospital domain, and Saint Joseph's would offer a post-graduate degree in health and hospital administration, said the university's Director of Admissions, Ms Susan Kassab. The programme will commence on July 4, she told newspersons.
The tuition fee for the programme is Rs 4.34 lakh, but this does not include other costs, including travel (Rs 50,000) and board and lodging ($3,000 in the US and Rs 27,000 in Coimbatore).
As part of the programme, students will travel in summer to Saint Joseph's University campus in Philadelphia, US, to study for 12 weeks, undertaking courses in health and hospital administration and observational trips with practical training at leading hospitals in the US.
However, the university would not guarantee students visa for travel, and if visas were rejected alternative arrangements, including online training, would be made. This, however, depends on a case-by-case basis, she said.
