Chennai , March 9

SCHWARZKOPF Professional plans to launch a range of ammonia-free hair colours and conditioners. Speaking to Business Line on the sidelines of BeauWell India, organised by CII, Mr Shekhar Sethu, General Manager (India), Schwarzkopf Professional, said, "This is an area which we had so far not tapped and there is a consistent demand for beauty products with caring ingredients."

The new products would be unveiled by the company's global ambassador, Mr Anthony Whitakar (renowned hairstylist), in April. Mr Sethu said that Whitakar would be coming to India to showcase the company's spring-summer collection titled `Essential Looks — The Real Collection.'

The collection, according to him, would showcase common people and would not have decked-up models.

"The highlight of the event this year would be tailor-made styles particularly targeted at the Indian consumers," he said.

Mr Sethu said that the Indian beauty industry is growing in double digits every year and the demand for beauty products are on the rise.

To cater to this rising demand, he said that the company is also planning to target the mid-segment consumers with its brands Clinol and Indola. He added that these were mass brands and the company would roll them out in smaller towns.

Apart from launching new products, the company is also planning to extend its training facilities across the country. While it already has training academies in Mumbai and Delhi, it is planning to set up one each in Bangalore and Kolkata by the end of this year.

Regarding its exclusive tie-ups with salons, he said the coming year would see at least 20 Schwarzkopf exclusive salons. The company is also looking at tie-up with spas to promote its spa products.
