THIS weekend is going to be a testing time for the graduating batch at IIM Bangalore. With about 100 companies to choose from, many of them based outside the country, and various sectors, emotions such as pressure to perform and fear of failure are running high among students.
It is to tackle this problem and to make an informed decision, that the Alumni Association of the IIM, Bangalore organised a unique mentoring session for the students this year. Through a programme called `Perspectives,' students of the batch of 2003 interacted with the outgoing batch and shared with them information such as preparation for the placement process, salary, work environment, etc.
According to one student, this helped him raise certain issues with his seniors, which he may not be able to do with the participating company. In addition, this also helps students make the right career choices and avoid disappointment later, which may result in high attrition levels.
Alumni from all sectors, across the globe were invited to cover all career profiles.
