Accenture to recruit more women

Our Bureau

Bangalore , March 10

TO encourage gender diversity at the workplace, Accenture in India is launching a focused recruitment campaign to attract more women employees.

The campaign will include a metrics-based recruitment process, a referral programme, connecting with colleges involved in women's education, and an advertising campaign to get the message across.

Announcing this as part of its Women's Day initiative, Ms Rekha Menon, Head, India Geographic Services, Accenture, said, "We believe that this inclusiveness will help us show better productivity and innovation and be a high performance business."

She felt this initiative would help the company choose from a larger talent pool and reduce attrition levels. Currently, Accenture has 11,000 employees in India and one lakh across the world, of which 25 per cent are women.

The company also launched a programme to sensitise and train employees about gender differences. Called More Learning@Accenture, the programme includes activities such as roadshows to educate employees on the company's policies on discrimination and harassment, establishing employee-led clubs to organise sports initiatives such as self-defence skills, sessions on leadership and work-life balance.

Ms Menon said the company would also soon put in place policies that allow flexibility at work, like increasing the availability of the existing flexible working hours/home office options for employees, shift allocation flexibility for BPO employees, establishing day-care centres for children of employees and setting up of wellness clinics.
