Pharmaceuticals Corporate - Announcements Clariant shifts German facility to Colour-Chem's Roha plant Our Bureau
Mumbai , March 10 COLOUR-Chem Ltd's Roha plant has been chosen as the manufacturing base for Clariant, its parent, to produce agrochemical and pharmaceutical intermediates in India. Clariant's Life Science Division has decided to shift the manufacturing facility of Friedel-Crafts reactions from Germany to Roha. Clariant was looking outside Europe for a strong manufacturing base with globally competitive costs. "Colour-Chem's Roha site in India with its well developed infrastructure, technical expertise and excellent safety track record provided the obvious answer,'' a news release said. The expansion provides the parent division with products of international quality at Indian costs. This facility also helps Colour-Chem to cater to the Indian market with products for the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and speciality chemical industries. An investment of Rs 8 crore has been made to expand and rationalise the existing plant at Roha for the manufacture of Friedel-Crafts products, such as acetophenones, as well as specialty intermediates used in the manufacture of agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals. These products will cater to both local and export markets, the release said.
