Outlook Industry & Economy - Real Estate & Construction Sika to promote usage of chemicals in construction Our Bureau
Visakhapatnam , March 11 SIKA India Pvt Ltd, the wholly owned subsidiary of Sika AG of Switzerland, the leader in construction chemicals, is on an aggressive drive to promote and sell its products all over the country, according to Mr Vaswar Das Gupta, Managing Director. He said at a press meet here on Thursday that the company, which had started operations in India in 1987, was trying to promote awareness about the water-proofing systems and the need for making use of chemicals in construction. "Though we are promoting chemicals, we are at the same time conscious of the need for protecting environment. For instance, in many Western countries tar is prohibited, but in India there is no such restriction. Still, our company does not use it," he explained. He said the company had three factories - in Goa, Kolkata and Jaipur - and 16 branches all over the country. It had its own R&D centre and it was the first in the country to receive ISO 9001 certification in the trade. He said the company had more than 100 associates and distributors across the country. It was offering the customers a range of water-proofing systems, tile adhesives and other products.
