Mergers & Acquisitions Ma Foi plans to acquire small, mid-size HR firms Anjali Prayag
Bangalore , March 11 CHENNAI-based HR solutions company Ma Foi, which is part of the Dutch staffing company Vedior, is now looking at acquiring small and mid-sized firms in the staffing and HR industry in the country. Mr Brian Wilkinson, Commonwealth Zone Manager and Board of Management Member, Vedior, told Business Line that its Indian operations is the growth engine for the company globally as it is the fastest growing division in the world. In India, though the healthcare, education, engineering, technology and accounting sectors have accepted staffing solutions to fulfil their manpower requirements, it is just 5 per cent of the jobs that fall under the temporary segment, according to Mr Pandia Rajan, Managing Director, Ma Foi. In the US, close to 50 per cent of the people employed are temporary staff. Currently the temporary market in India has 17 players in the organised sector and employs close to a lakh people. "Every month, 5,000-6,000 temporary staff are hired by the industry," Mr Rajan said. Ma Foi is also working on developing the import-export model for temporary staff . This will give people opportunity to go abroad on temporary jobs and also get foreign talent into the country. Nurses and occupational therapists have already been placed abroad and in the reverse trend, talent is being imported for the education, oil and gas, textiles, telecom and BPO sectors, Mr Rajan said. "We have placed teachers and professionals in some of the elite schools in the country." Ma Foi, which currently has five overseas offices, expects to be present in 10 overseas locations by the end of this year, Mr Wilkinson said.
