THE Andhra Pradesh Minister for Higher Education, Mr P. Venkateswar Rao, told the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday that the State Government would cancel the affiliation of junior colleges that advertise the ranks of students.

Replying to a question raised by Mr Udaya Bhanu during the question hour, the Minister said that based on the recommendations of the Neerja Committee, the Government had introduced various measures to reduce the stress on students. The government will also decide the fee structure of corporate educational institutions.

Apart from restricting the strength of students, Mr Rao said instructions were given to the managements of colleges not to hold class work during public holidays and vacations and to avoid running the institutions throughout the year.
