Correction

In the news report on VAT that appeared in these columns on Wednesday (March 16), the reference to Mr P. Chidambaram, Union Finance Minister, in the headline and in the opening paragraph, was wrongly made at the editing stage. It should read the Tamil Nadu Finance Minister.

The error is regretted.
