HZL hikes zinc prices, cuts lead

Our Bureau

MUMBAI: Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) has revised its selling prices upward by Rs 1,600 per tonne on zinc products and downward by Rs 900 per tonne in lead metal for the second half of the current month, following the LME market, according to trade sources.

Spot price of zinc in Mumbai moved up Rs 2-2.50 a kg during the first half of the current month while lead metal price was steady around Rs 51-52 levels, a trader said.

The company has increased prices to Rs 77,700 per tonne from Rs 76,100 on ex-smelter basis for special high grade (SHG) and Rs 77,400 per tonne from Rs 75,800 for high grade (HG).

In lead category, the company has, however, reduced prices by Rs 900 a tonne to Rs 55,700 for the second half of the current month.

However, no price revision has been made by Sterlite Copper and Birla Copper on copper products for the second half of the current month because local prices were more or less steady.

The Bombay Metals Exchange (BME) has revised its benchmark price of copper wire bar downward by Rs 2,679 at Rs 1,90,284 per tonne compared to Rs 1,92,963 per tonne for the second half of the current month, according to BME officials.
