Pay panel mandate to be expanded: Chandy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A routine meeting of the State Cabinet on Monday decided to expand the terms of reference of the Pay Commission headed by Mr R. Narayanan.

Announcing this, the Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, told newspersons here that the issue of revision of pensioner benefits has been included in the terms of reference. The commission has been asked to examine and suggest changes, if any, to the structure of benefits available to the pensioners.

The Cabinet also gave its nod to the proposal for ordering a judicial probe into the purchase of essential articles made by the Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation.

Meet on groundwater: The Minister for Water resources, Mr Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, while inaugurating a workshop organised here on the occasion of International Water Day on Tuesday, requested the cooperation of the people in the Government's efforts to raise the groundwater level.
