CAG elected as `Goal Liaison'

Our Bureau

New Delhi , March 22

THE Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Mr. V.N. Kaul has been elected as Chief Coordinator called `Goal Liaison' of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).

An extraordinary meeting of the Governing Board of INTOSAI held in Budapest, Hungary, elected the CAG from among 11 other competitors to coordinate the activities of the international body in sharing of technical and professional knowledge in the field of public audit.

The INTOSAI is the main forum for Auditor Generals from around the world to discuss issues of mutual concern and keep abreast of the developments in auditing and professional standards and best practices. It has more than 180 members at present and India is one of its 18 Governing Board members.

With this, India's position as a key country in the field of public audit internationally has further strengthened. India is already on the Governing Board of the INTOSAI and the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions, ASOSAI and is a member of the Global Working Group. CAG is also the Chairman of the INTOSAI's IT Audit Committee, according to an official release issued here today.
