Telecom staff to intensify stir

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The United Forum of BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd) Executives has decided to intensify its eight-day-old agitation programme.

A spokesman for the Forum said here that work-to-rule and non-cooperation strike was being pressed to demand time-bound promotions and in protest against the move to appoint management trainees at the top level.

The Forum urged the management to implement a promotion policy that is similar to the ones in other public sector undertakings. This would not involve heavy financial commitment, it claimed.

Meanwhile, telecom services in the State are progressively being affected.
