A Punjab farmer spraying pesticides on cabbage crop on a field on the outskirts of Jalandhar. The collapse of public sector extension and lack of awareness among farmers on Integrated Pest Management techniques have led to a significant increase in pesticide use. This has resulted in residues being found in vegetables grown in many parts of the country.
