Rs 50 cr allotted for agency area roads

THE State Government has earmarked Rs 50 crore for improvement of roads in the agency areas of the State, according to Mr Jakkampudi Ramamohan Rao, State Minister for Roads and Buildings.

Replying to a discussion on roads, Mr Ramamohana Rao said Nabard has allocated Rs 625 crore for the State towards their improvement and of this Rs 50 crore were earmarked for roads in the tribal areas.

While priority was being accorded to improvement of ghat roads, special attention was being shown to Bhadrachalam, Yellavaram, Parvathipuram, Salur, Srungavarapukota, Asifabad and other tribal constituencies in the State.

A House committee probing IMAX theatre matter has been entrusted with the task of looking into alleged irregularities in the allotment of about 5,000 square yards of park land belonging to the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd to the wife of senior BJP leader in the State to locate a petrol bunk.

The State Major Industries Minister, Mr Botsa Satyanarayana, announced this while replying to an allegation that land has been allotted to the wife of BJP MLA. It was alleged that the process of allotment was controversial and the Congress members demanded an in-depth probe.
