Taj Hotels in talks with airlines to promote leisure arm

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , March 23

TAJ Leisure Hotels Resorts and Palaces is holding discussions with all major domestic airlines to rope them in its promotion of `Taj Holidays' campaign of its leisure arm.

The association might result in cheaper ticket prices that would form part of combo offer.

"We hope to conclude deals with airlines in a week or two," Mr Deepak Khullar, Head (Sales) of Taj Leisure Hotels, said.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr Deepak said the deals would be sector specific. For example, the arrangement for ex-Delhi tariff would be different from, say, ex-Hyderabad tariff.

Mr Deepak was here to promote the Taj Holidays in Andhra Pradesh ahead of its launch on May 1.

"We are targeting newer segments of domestic tourists," he said, pointing out that domestic tourism witnessed 26 per cent increase in just one year.

The newer segments included growing number of outbound tourists from India.

Also, the hospitality major was looking at hinterland towns.

"We are going aggressively to market the product in hinterland cities like Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Guntur," he said.

Seeing huge potential there, the company had designed special packages to tailor such markets.

The Taj Holiday packages started off at Rs 6,000 and ranged up to Rs 30,000.

The packages included taxes, transportation to and from airports and railway stations, sightseeing, hotel accommodation.

It also comprises food credit, allowing customers to pick food of their choice.
