AI direct flight from Chennai to New York soon

AIR India will operate a weekly direct flight from Chennai to New York via Mumbai and London, effective April 3. The weekly direct flight from Chennai to Los Angeles via Mumbai and Frankfurt was launched on Sunday.At a press conference in Air India's newly furbished Maharaja lounge, Mr P.S. Rajagopal, Commercial Manager, Air India, said that this service would be of convenience to passengers, as there will be no change of aircraft at Mumbai.

The airline will be using the Boeing 744-400 on this sector with 12 first class, 26 business class and 385 economy seats. The airline operates 28 aircraft and in the summer schedule, it has been able to trim the turnaround time at Mumbai.Mr Rajagopal said that Air India had recorded an increase in growth of 55 per cent in Tamil Nadu over the previous year. The growth has been mainly due to the IT boom.
