ICL ties up with MG varsity for management courses

Kochi , March 28

ICL Certifications Ltd, an accredited international certification body, has tied up with M.G. University, Kottayam, for conducting management programmes from the next academic year.

The Department of Adult Education of the university will start a one-year PG programme in Quality Management System, Food Safety Management System (HACCP) and Environment Management System in association with ICL.

Those who qualify in the programme will be eligible to appear for a lead auditor qualifying examination.

It is for the first time that the university is entering into such pact with a corporate body, which will enable students of PG programmes to add value to their qualifications, Mr Sanjeev Chadha, Managing Director, ICL Certifications Ltd, said at a press meet. The course enables students to focus on a specialised and strategically important aspect of business, he added. The courses will distant education programmes with three to four contact programmes of four to five days duration each.

The trainees will get hands on experience in documenting, auditing and maintaining management systems. They will be eligible for a postgraduate certificate from the university and a professional certificate from ICL.

Mr Chaddha, who was here for the Kerala launch of Quality World, a monthly magazine on quality issues, said the courses gave an opening into a new career in quality related management and an option for independent practice as a consultant or an auditor.

Quality World endeavours to sensitise Indian players about the need to conform to critical parameters of international quality standards at all levels of operations, Mr Hariharan Jairam, Editor of the magazine, said. It is disturbing that understanding of and conformance to critical quality standards in the country are far short of the desired level, he added.
