No presiding officer at DRT Coimbatore

Our Bureau

Coimbatore , March 28

THE Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) in Coimbatore has been without a permanent Presiding Officer for over a year now.

The Presiding Officer of DRT II Chennai, Mr Vijayakumar, has been holding forte until recently.

He has since taken additional charge of the recovery tribunal in Bangalore and Mr K.P. John, the Presiding Officer DRT, Ernakulam has been posted to the Coimbatore centre.

With no permanent Presiding Officer to conduct proceedings on a day-to-day basis, bankers have to contend with two or three special sittings every week.

The delay in disposal of cases has put them in a fix. Cases are piling up and the delay in disposal remains a cause for concern.
