THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government has handed over 27.57 acres of land to the Airport Authority of India for the construction of a new terminal building at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.

The Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, handed the Government Order on the transfer of land to Mr Narinder Kaushal, Airport Director, Thiruvananthapuram Airport, at a function in the city on Tuesday.

Declaring that land will not be a constraint for the development of the airport, the Chief Minister said the construction of the new terminal must be expedited. The new terminal, which will cover an area of 20,000 sq meters, will be able to handle 11.8 lakh passengers a year, says an official press release.
