Our Bureau

Mumbai , March 29

RELIANCE Infocomm will charge for the use of R World, its data services suite, from April 1. R World, according to the company, gets 1.25-1.5 billion page views every month.

Going by this figure, and provided that usage continues to be the same, the company could earn substantial revenues every month.

The tariff is Rs 25 for monthly membership and Rs 3 for a `day pass' valid for 24 hours.

This membership allows access to 65 applications, including news, astrology services and city guides.

The charge for applications, which are grouped into four categories, will range between Rs 2 and Rs 25, said a news release from the company.

Applications that are impulsive in nature come under the pay-on-entry category and include railway booking, Web mail and mobile banking.

This will cost between Rs 2 and Rs 4 per log-on, irrespective of usage duration.

Pay-on-use applications are ringtones and picture greetings, which could cost between Rs 2 and Rs 10.
