Rubber trading to resume tomorrow

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , March 31

THE physical rubber market continued to remain closed in protest against VAT. The market will resume trading only on April 2.

Rubber futures turned weak on Thursday even after a positive TOCOM closing. The April contract was quoted at Rs 59.06 (59.39), May contract at Rs 61.86 (62.11), June contract at Rs 63.20 (63.49) and July contract at Rs 63.60 (63.90) per kg for RSS 4.

According to sources, most of the overseas markets except TOCOM were weak and this might have tempted the traders to book profit at higher levels in the domestic futures market.

At TOCOM, the April futures for RSS 3 improved further to 144.7 yen against 143.8 yen a kg. At Bangkok, RSS 3 closed steady at Rs 57.44 a kg as on Wednesday.
