IATA agents protest

Our Bureau

KOCHI: As part of the all India protest against the capping of commission by Air India, all the IATA accredited agents under the banner of TAAI, TAFI and IAAI in Kerala have submitted a memorandum on Friday to the National Carrier's offices in Kochi, Kozhikode and Thruvananthapuram.

Mr Ross Masood Padiyath, Chairman, TAAI Kerala Chapter, said after submitting the memorandum that as a protest all agents had returned all promotional materials of Air India besides discontinuing promotion or sale of its products till this unilateral decision of the company was withdrawn.

He said the AI's decision would directly affect the livelihood of more than 25,000 people who were directly or indirectly involved in the travel industry in Kerala alone and more than three lakh in the country.

Besides, it would increase cost of tickets to the consumers who were already burdened with surcharges to the ticket fares, he added.
