Stall owners' plea rejected

Our Bureau

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday declined to pass an interim order permitting shop owners at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium here to conduct business during the India-Pak cricket match on Friday.

A Division Bench comprising Mr Justice J.B. Koshy and Mr Justice M. Sasidharan Nambiar, adjourned the petition filed by Jolly Titus and two other shop owners against police instructions to close all showrooms and office space in the stadium on April 1-2, in view of the cricket match.

Though the shop owners contended that the police action was violative of the Fundamental Rights, the State Attorney General submitted that it was part of the necessary security arrangements at the match venue.
