BITS centre for research

BANGALORE: Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), based in Rochester, New York plan to set up a centre for applied research and professional excellence.

Called the BITS-RIT APEX centre, it would come up within the next three months in Bangalore. The centre will house an extension of Oyster's Lab (the 24x7 cutting-edge research lab) and a training centre that offers ongoing basic and advanced courses.

While BITS would be responsible for setting up the centre, conducting the courses, and certification, RIT would funnel significant funded research projects to the centre.

RIT also proposes to up an International RF-Analog Research facility as part of the centre shortly. Indian Semiconductor Association, besides catalysing the collaboration would facilitate industry participation in the centre.
