THE State Government has revised the policy for resettlement and rehabilitation of people whose source of livelihood was substantially affected or who were displaced from their dwellings on account of acquisition of land or acquisition of a house for the purpose of executing various projects in the State.

Stating that the policy was approved by the State Cabinet on Friday, the Minister for Information, Mr Mohammed Ali Shabbir, said that the affected people would get an additional benefit of Rs 75,000 to Rs 1.2 lakh following the implementation of the new policy.

Briefing newspersons after the Cabinet meeting, Mr Shabbir said that it was decided to launch "Praja Patham" programme in the State on 4th and 7th of this month.

During the month-long programme, to be implemented from April 11 to May 10, officials and public representatives right from the level of Sarpanch to Member of Parliament would visit villages to understand the problems of the people and sanction funds for taking up works to mitigate their plight.
