IT Training ICA to open more centres in South Ambar Singh Roy
Kolkata , April 3 THE Institute of Computer Accountants, which facilitates "digital enablement" of trained accountants and has positioned itself as a "finishing school for accountants in today's digital world", will soon extend its presence to Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. The institute already has an established presence in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, besides other States. According to Mr N.K. Shyamsukha, Chairman of the institute, with the opening of training centres in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala its presence would extend to all four States in the South. With this, and in the next fiscal, the number of such centres across the country would go up to around 325 from 225. Besides, the institute is exploring the possibility of establishing its presence in neighbouring countries and West Asia. In the immediate future, a placement cell would be set up in West Asia, "where there is great demand for trained Indian accountants." Mr Shyamsukha said the institute ICA was formed in 1999 with a view to not only facilitate digital enablement of trained accountants but also to bridge the gap between the skills of accountants and the industry needs. Towards this end, the curriculum for the "industrial accountants" course has been devised in consultation with chartered accountants, practising accountants and consultants from the industry. The 200-strong faculty of the institute comprises entirely of chartered accountants. At present, around 32,000 accountants undertake the "industrial accountants" course annually and placement services are available to each one of them. "We have 13 full-fledged placement units across the country even as individual centres also function as placement facilitators," Mr Shyamsukha said, adding that the institute gives an AJT (any time job) card to its students and guarantees refund of the course fee if it cannot provide jobs as promised.
