Aviation safety rules

It is unfortunate that even after repeated mishaps, some which even cost the lives of former Lok Sabha speaker, Balayogi, Telugu actress, Soundarya and Congress MP Madhav Rao Scindia, VIPs still continue to use helicopters and single engine planes to commute.

In fact, in the recent tragedy at Saharanpur, which took the lives of Industrialist O.P. Jindal and the son of former Congress leader Bansi Lal, the helicopter was reported to have developed mechanical snags due to passenger overload. The Government should make compulsory a code of procedures and rules before giving clearance for any flight.
