Paper, Board & Newsprint Hindustan Newsprint annual turnover up 8.33 pc Our Bureau
Kochi , April 5 HINDUSTAN Newsprint Ltd has recorded its highest turnover during 2004-05, which grew by 8.33 per cent from Rs 252 crore to Rs 273 crore. During the period, the company achieved newsprint production of 1.12 lakh tonnes, which translates into a capacity utilisation of 112 per cent. The company sold all the 1.12 lakh tonnes of newsprint that it produced and it was able to close the year with a zero stock position. The company was confronted with a steep increase in input costs during the year with prices of fuel, chemicals and raw material inputs all going up, a press release issued by the company said. To offset these cost escalations, the company has been exercising production cost controls by improving techno-economic parameters of operation. With significant investment for technological upgradation, each functional area has been allotted an internal target. The completion of the 7 MW captive power plant and augmentation of the scheme is further expected to contain costs of the company. An amount of Rs 7 crore has been earmarked for implementation of various projects in a phased manner for upgrading the effluent treatment and waste management facilities.
