PM to inaugurate FICCI farm summit

NEW DELHI: In order to create a public-private partnership towards developing a new policy and regulatory framework, which would accelerate the farm sector growth and productivity, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Ministry of Agriculture is organising a two-day summit.

"The conference would look at redefining Government intervention and private participation in order to ensure that lots of jobs are created in the sector," said Ms Radha Singh, Agriculture Secretary.

The two-day conference `Agriculture Summit 2005: Reforms for Raising Farm Income' in New Delhi starting April 9 will be inaugurated by Prime Minister, Mr Manmohan Singh.

"The conference would strategise on creating an enabling environment for attracting private investment in all stages of agri-value chain," said Mr P.M. Sinha, Chairman of Agriculture and Rural Development Committee.
