SSI Jostle for space at Kinfra park in Kasargode V. Sajeev Kumar
Kochi , April 7 AS many as 28 entrepreneurs have chosen space to set up industrial units in the Small Industries Park built by the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) in Kasargode. The industrial units include oil-refining, automated power laundry, white cement, PVC footwear, granite processing, ice cream manufacturing, rubber-based and agro-based units. Few of the units have started the civil works for the construction activities, Dr G. C. Gopala Pillai, Managing Director, Kinfra, said. Situated on 250 acres of land, the Kinfra Small Industrial Park (K-SIP) is expected to boost the industrial development of Kasargode district. About 60 acres of land have already been developed and companies such as Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd have evinced interest in setting up units in the park. One of the main advantages of K-SIP is its proximity to the Mangalore Port. The park will get uninterrupted power supply with a dedicated 11-kilo-volt power supply system. The single window clearance mechanism enables the entrepreneur to get all the clearances from the park. "K-SIP will provide a `walk-in and manufacture' environment to entrepreneurs," Dr Pillai said. Kinfra, he said, has developed small industries parks in various districts under the Integrated Infrastructure Development Scheme of the Union Government. The space in the park will be offered at the rate of Rs 2.4 lakh per acre and the lease will be for 90 years. Kinfra is offering training, technical and management support for entrepreneurs.
