Rubber prices maintain steady trend

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , April 7

THE physical rubber market maintained the steady trend on Thursday. Buyers kept a low profile as moderate rains over the plantations could boost rubber production. At the same time, sellers seemed hesitant to press more sales while the arrivals to the main marketing centres were still low.

The transactions were meagre. Both at Kottayam and Kochi, sheet rubber closed steady at Rs 58 a kg

The futures market weakened further as major international markets were reported to be sliding. The April contract was quoted at Rs 57.83 (Rs 58.13), May at Rs 59.70 (Rs 60.37), June at Rs 61.52 (Rs 62.27) and July contract at Rs 62.79 (Rs 63.16) per kg for RSS 4.

The spot rubber rates per kg on Thursday were: RSS-4 Rs 58 (Rs 58), RSS-5 Rs 57 (Rs 57), ungraded Rs 56 (Rs 56), ISNR 20 Rs 56.75 (Rs 56.75) and latex 60% Rs 40.50 (Rs 40.50).
