INSPIRED by the popular Hindi movie Munnabhai MBBS, Dr Shantan Reddy has started a 24x7 healthcare support centre.

Using a variety of communication options such as the Web, call centre and mobile phones, Doctor Munnabhai 24x7 offers its customers cheaper healthcare services.

"We have tied up with leading corporate hospitals such as Apollo, Yashoda, Care, CDR, Image and Vijaya Diagnostic Centre," Dr Reddy said.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said people could approach the company to know about hospitals that suited their pockets. "Our understanding with corporate hospitals will help patients get significant reductions in prices," he said.

Initially, the company was entering the Hyderabad and Bangalore markets.

Taking a cue from the airlines that allowed last minute reductions, the company allowed patients to approach the call centre between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and buy services on the same day.
