L.N. Revathy

Coimbatore, April 8

METROPOLIS Health Services (MHS), a reputed referral centre for laboratory medicine, is contemplating private placement of equity to expand and grow. The size of the proposed issue has been estimated at Rs 20 crore.

"We are in talks with certain players in the industry. Nothing has been finalised as yet," Dr G.S.K. Velu, Managing Director, MHS told Business Line.

From a testing laboratory, MHS has over the years pioneered the referral laboratory concept. It has established a chain of eight laboratories across the country at Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Jaipur, Thrissur, Kochi, Delhi, Ahmedabad and a contract centre at Dubai in a span of three years.

The Mumbai centre is said to be the largest in the country. It offers over 1,200 specialised tests, ranging from oncology to genetics, immunoassays to molecular biology.
